The phrase 'daylight robbery' comes from a time a few hundred years ago when folk where being taxed left, right and centre for everything. Apparently the greedy government of the day couldn't get enough revenue and the things they were taxing started to become more and more outlandish - including a tax for windows (ya know the things made out of glass - and not that horrible thing Microsoft makes). People were so outraged, they started blacking out their windows and bricking them up, hence the phrase 'daylight robbery'. Kind of cool I thought.
