Random Stuff...

EQ2 TIPS:\r\nThe 3 Man PR run...\r\nFinding yourself a bit low on coin? Then why not grab two other guildmates and do a \'3 man PR run\'.\r\n\r\nBut what is a 3 man PR run you may ask? The 3 man PR run is a run into the x4 raid zone, The Protectors Realm, within the dungeon of Sebilis in the Kunzar Jungle of Kunark. You should find that a combination of 3 level 90\'s (which should consist of a tank, dps class and healer) can trio this zone together within around 30 to 45 minutes generally without too much trouble, and net each person somewhere in the region of 40 to 60 platinum, not to mention some fantastic raid loot for your alts or for muting/selling as well as some master spells.\r\n\r\nWhy 3 man though? Less folk = more coin per person obviously! I hear its even possible to duo it, though you\'re likely to have an easier time running it as a 3 person group.\r\n\r\nLook out for fellow guildmates calling out for PR runs in guild chat, or why not put one together yourself!? You should be able to run this raid instance around about twice per week, and we recommend your first visit should be with someone who knows the zone well, and can guide you through the process of completing it, of which there are a continually growing number of guildmates who do!

If you play Everquest II in tabbed mode like I do, you can minimize EQII and it will stop using as many resources you might want for watching videos or something, I have found that sometimes this helps when trying to get to a page quickly.BadLuckBadLuck
DID YOU KNOW THAT...
Having your speakers turned up while raiding will cause your wife to say things like....

"Wow, you really are a nerd..." or...

"I don't think we will ever have sex again after hearing that..."

This has been proven many times.

GUILD HALL DRUID PORTAL:\r\nHaving problems with the Druid Portal bit... errr, I mean Druid Portal lady, in the Guild Hall grounds? Find that she never opens a portal no matter how nicely you ask? Finding that she won\'t even succomb to bribes, copious quantities of large meaty bones, Snickers or even platinum coin?\r\n\r\nDont worry because help is now at hand, thanks to this great tip Badluck gave me a few weeks ago, which has been verified to work by many guild members, myself included.\r\n\r\nSimply hail the Druid Portal lady, and then either run or fly off to the other side of the Guild Hall gardens. Personally I usually go up towards the front gate / travel bell area. Then, spin back round, and head back towards her, where, hey presto, you should find a portal has now opened!\r\n\r\nMy guess is its some kind of delayed rendering issue, a bit like when the wizard spires in the garden don\'t appear sometimes unless you run off elsewhere for a bit, and then run back to them. Good tip Badluck!BadluckStormsurge | An EQ2 Guild based on the Everfrost server
EQ2 TIPS:\r\nShort of plat?\r\nFinding yourself a bit low on coin? If you are geared up in DoV gear, and have a reasonably good DPS output, you should find you can solo through the level 80 Shadow Odyssey instance, The Obelisk of Ahkzul, up in the Moors of Ykesha. The zone can take as little as about 20 minutes to clear, and includes 3 named mobs, one of which drops a treasure chest which contains something in the region of around 7 to 15 platinum coin. This zone can be run through every 18 hours.\r\n\r\nThere is some decent loot to be found in there for your alts or for muting, as well as shinies, a void shard at the end of the zone, and quite often masters will drop too. Adding this to your daily task list could bring in 50 to 100 platinum a week.Stormsurge | An EQ2 Guild based on the Everfrost server
EQ2 TIPS:
Housing / Decorating:

Got stuck in one of your house designs? Shocked

Just type /house and it will allow you to leave the house and come back!

Great way to get unstuck and not damage the design! Razz

DID YOU KNOW...?
Pronunciation:

Kraii is pronunced as 'Cry', not 'Cray', not 'Cree', and not 'Dummy' Wink

EQ2 TIPS:
Broker:

Did you know you could drag a spell or item directly into the Broker's "search" field and it will auto fill the name for you?

For spells, you'll want to pull them from your spell book. You can do the same trick from a quickbar, but it will clear the key... so the spell book is the best way! Smile

This tip makes it SO much easier to find spell upgrades, duplicate rares, etc off the broker! Enjoy!

DID YOU HEAR?
A certain Shirtless Wonder was caught snoozing in the guild hall!

Rumor has it the sounds of several women giggling were heard as a box mysteriously appeared near the broker! They must have wanted to keep the Catch of the Day to themselves, because before long – only the beak of his griffon could be seen!

EQ2 TIPS:
User Interface: Did you know... that if you hit F10 (or press it!), you can see all of your game windows, even those which don't have anything in them and have the borders shut off! (aka you lost one and need to get it back. Not that I've done that... twice... >_> <_<).

This also allows you to move any window pretty easy - even the ones that are locked!

I find this very handy to quickly and easily be able to "tweak" my view anytime I need. Cool

EQ2 TIPS:\r\nLore & Legend:\r\nLore & Legend (L&L) quests enable a player to learn more about a particular type of Norrathian monster and can be started either by acquiring a L&L loot item on the corpse of a dead enemy, or by finding the book for each specific quest in and around Norrath. Upon your first L&L quest completion, you will gain an extra combat / spell ability, Masters Smite, enabling you to inflict damage upon the type of foe your L&L quest was for. Completing additional L&L quests thereafter will add those monster types to your list of Masters Smite foes.\r\n\r\nIts generally recommended you acquire and complete these quests as soon as you are able to so you can use this additional damage for extra surviveability. This handy page on EQ2 Wiki...\r\n\r\nLore & Legend Timeline\r\n\r\nis a useful L&L timeline guide as to which zones are good areas to hunt for L&L pieces depending on your level.\r\n\r\nThere are over 40 L&L quests, including quests for Goblins, Orcs, Vampires, Skeletons, Gnolls, Zombies, Ghosts and many more! Find and complete them all!Stormsurge | An EQ2 Guild based on the Everfrost server
EQ2 TIPS:\r\nThe Transmuting Formula:\r\nQuestion: What level items should I be looking at to transmute for the best possible chance of a skillup?\r\n\r\nAnswer: This is a question that comes up a lot in guild chat. The formula for finding out the level of items you should be aiming to transmute for the best possible chance of a skillup is as follows...\r\n\r\n(TRANSMUTE SKILL + 5) / 5\r\n\r\nSo, for example, lets say your Transmuting skill is presently 105, this would mean 105 + 5 = 110 / 5 = 22, meaning you should be looking at transmuting level 22 items for the best possible chance of a skillup. You can of course still also gain skillups from lower level items too.Stormsurge | An EQ2 Guild based on the Everfrost server
TWO TIPS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!
Timorous Deep:

Did you know Timorous Deep was non-hostile to good aligned characters too? (unless you have purposefully dumped that faction of course...)

This makes Timorous Deep available to all alignments for City Festivals as well as access to several merchants! One very handy merchant in particular is the linguist!

The linguist is located on the Docks just outside the city (available via griffin from Butcherblock or the World Bell) and is one of the most convenient merchants to pick up a good solid start on player-learned languages!

He has pretty cheap prices too! Very Happy

EQ2 TIP:\r\nSolo Shard missions:\r\nDid you know there are solo missions available to earn shards for many of the various shard currency systems available in the latter tiers, such as Void Shards, Marks of Manaar, and Primal Velium Shards?\r\n\r\nThese solo missions are repeatable once every 18 hours, and involve working through a relatively easy quest timeline as a pre-requisite, and indeed may require other pre-requisites in the form of faction, or other completed quests.\r\n\r\nYou can find more information about these solo missions via the links below...Stormsurge | An EQ2 Guild based on the Everfrost server
PTOLOMY'S WISE WORDS:
Survival:

EQ2 TIPS:\r\nThe Godking Anuk Raid:\r\nThe Godking Anuk raid was the major timeline of Everquest 2\'s first expansion, \'Desert of Flames\', and required completion of a lengthy timeline quest series to gain access to the zone where this raid takes place - \'The Fountain Of Life\' deep within the Shimmering Citadel in the Sinking Sands (although I\'m reliably informed you no longer need to work this timeline quest for zone access).\r\n\r\nAs a level 90, you can complete the raid at level 90 and can also complete it reasonably easily mentored down as well for a bunch of nice fabled loot for up and coming alts from the final boss mob, Godking Anuk himself.\r\n\r\nDuring one of the encounters you need to undertake to spawn Godking in this zone, one of the mobs during this encounter drops a chest (which drops GUARANTEED - whether you are mentored down or doing the zone at level 90), and this chest includes pretty much *EVERY T6 (tier 6) tradeskill rare* - the likes of Cobalt Clusters, Rough Pearls etc., plus a few spell scrolls to boot! A great way to stockpile rares from that tier for your up and coming alts or indeed to broker them should you wish. It can be done once a week, and takes about 30 to 60 minutes including getting there - depending on whether you do the zone mentored or unmentored.Chris
DID YOU KNOW?\r\nPlatinum coin cap:\r\nMany folk say there is no plat cap in EQ2. And whilst they\'re correct that there is no published platinum coin cap, technical limitations insist there has to be. The maximum platinum coin any one toon may hold is 18,446,744,073,709.551615 - according to EQ2 Developer, Zoltaroth, as EQ2 uses unsigned 64-bit integers. So there you have it!Chris
DID YOU KNOW?\r\nabout the /Mood command:\r\nHere is an obscure one that many of you may not be familiar with, the EQ2 /mood command - a series of fun facial expressions you can set on your character which will also emote your mood to those nearby. There are five different moods available...\r\n\r\n
  • /mood afraid\r\n
  • /mood angry\r\n
  • /mood happy\r\n
  • /mood sad\r\n
  • /mood tired
\r\n\r\nWhen you have finished, to return to normal just type /mood none.
Chris
EQ2 TIPS:\r\nGlobal Friends List\r\nQuestion: How do I add all the people I have on my friends list on my main toon to one or all of my alts friends list?\r\n\r\nAnswer: A little known fact that might prove useful is that you can save/load your friends lists between your characters. To do so you will need to save the friends list on your main toon by typing...\r\n\r\n/save_friends at the command line prompt. You may not notice anything in particular has happened after you have done it, but in fact your friends list on the character you are logged in as has been exported as a .txt file. Now all you need to do is import that friends list into the other characters you have that you wish to share it with. To do so, the log the character in you wish to import your friends list to and type...\r\n\r\n/load_friends\r\n\r\nat the command line prompt and a window will appear allowing you to choose a saved Friends List txt file. Choose the one that is appropriate (they are named with the character name they belong to), and click ok, and voila, imported friends list!Chris
EQ2 TIPS:\r\nLoad UI Settings\r\nQuestion: How do I apply the customised interface I have on one toon to another toon?\r\n\r\nAnswer: This is a really handy one to know for keeping your UI in a uniform manner across all your characters. Simply type.../load_uisettings\r\n\r\nat the command line prompt and a window will appear allowing you to apply another characters user interface configuration to the character you are currently logged in as. Simple!Chris
EQ2 TIPS:\r\nThe Transmuting Formula:\r\nQuestion: What level items should I be looking at to transmute for the best possible chance of a skillup?\r\n\r\nAnswer: This is a question that comes up a lot in guild chat. The formula for finding out the level of items you should be aiming to transmute for the best possible chance of a skillup is as follows...\r\n\r\n(TRANSMUTE SKILL / 5) + 5\r\n\r\nSo, for example, lets say your Transmuting skill is presently 105, this would mean 105 / 5 = 21 + 5 = 26, meaning you should be looking at transmuting level 26 items for the best possible chance of a skillup. You can of course still also gain skillups from lower level items too.Chris
WEB SITE TIP:\r\nHide Block content:\r\nDid you know you can hide individual blocks in the sidebars across the guild web site?\r\n\r\nShould you wish to turn off the display on any block in either sidebar, simply click the block title (i.e. the area with the crimson/burgundy coloured background - for this block its the area at the top of the block that says Random Tips...), and the content within the block will be toggled from view until you reclick the header again.Chris
WEB SITE TIP:\r\nSidebars:\r\nDid you know you can toggle on/off the sidebars in use across the guild web site?\r\n\r\nIf you\'re viewing a page and are having any kind of display issues where you are having to horizontally scroll content on the site, or content is getting pushed below the sidebars, or if you just want some additional screen real estate, then you can toggle either sidebar on/off individually or collectively.\r\n\r\nScreenshot\r\n\r\nTo do so, all you need do is click the silver coloured \'bracket\' cornerpiece that sits above either sidebar (as pictured in the screenshot link above) to toggle the display of that sidebar on/off.Chris
