In a bid to break the 5,000 quests barrier, I've recently been working on a few Heritage Quests that I've never gotten round to finishing up. One of which, was the Dark Mail Gauntlets timeline, a lengthy and involved timeline that is flagged as level 82 in the Journal.
This quest begins by examining a hanging skeleton in The Ruins of Guk: Halls of the Fallen, a zone I'd only previously been in a time or two beforehand, and sees you entering an instance through a barrel behind Butcherblock Mountain docks, The Halls of the Unseen, where further quests in the timeline can be started, which will end up sending you all over Norrath including Jarsath Wastes, Nektulos Forest, Neriak, Gorowyn, North Qeynos, South Freeport, Miragul's Phylactery: The Crucible, The Ruins of Guk: Halls of the Fallen (again), Antonica, Darklight Woods, and the Commonlands. It's a long questline but a fun one to get nailed.
Whilst the HQ reward in itself is not that tantalising, there are a couple of good things about doing this HQ timeline. There are three titles that are earned in the process, 'The Dark Talon', 'The Shadow Blade' and 'The Voice', a fair bit of coin to be earned along the way, as well as status and faction with The Circle of The Unseen Hand. Better still is the neat little item 'Barrel of Butcherblock' that is earned towards the end of the timeline which allows you to port to Butcherblock Mountains every 15 minutes, a handy little thing to have for sure!
Furthermore, once the HQ timeline is complete, you will still have access to the Halls of the Unseen (where most of the quests in this timeline begin) and have access to a repeatable quest, that when completed 10 times give access to a faction merchant in the zone that sells a variety of some rather nice looking themed appearance gear as can be seen in the Youtube video above on the Stormsurge Youtube channel. However, don't expect to breeze through this. It took me around five hours to get all the repeatables done - there is a lot of zoning involved, but its something to chip away at if you like the looks of the appearance gear to be had, and a rather nice house banner.
