So, yesterday, I was out and about on Severinaa, my seemingly forever up and coming Mystic toon, causing much mayhem and destruction throughout the Enchanted Lands (well, taking pictures mostly really). On my travels, whilst running around near the northern shoreline I encountered the bizarre sight above near the Fellowship Tree.

I wondered if I was seeing double at first and had to do a good long double-take to make sure I wasn't seeing things. But I wasn't, and it turns out for some really strange reason, two of the same named spiders, 'Shaydra The Wicked', had popped! Being mildly arachnophobic (and when I say mildly, I do mean of course absolutely petrified of the bastages, no matter how big or not so big they are!), this proved troublesome and of course I fled for my life back to the southern end of the zone and returned to killing deer, fairies, and badgers and the like!

Whilst walking around the foyer area of the Guild Hall recently you may have tripped up over the large circular weapon rack that is currently in place there (just like Thor did), together with two new startling pictures on the wall in the vicinity.

Officer Sangrea placed these items here as part of 'Sang's Showcase' - an occasional look into some of the marvellous items Sangrea's level 90 Carpenter, Raene, can produce. This time we take a look at three brand new items added to Raene's repertoire from the 'Supplying the Armies of War: Symbols of War' tradeskill book, a special Carpenters recipe book purchaseable from Brontis in the Fortress of Drunder in the Eastern Wastes of Velious after completing a tradeskill timeline series in Velious.

UPDATE: The two paintings shown in this article are now actually the correct ones! Sang's also asked me to point out that items are free for guildmates if you want one, just email her or shoot her a tell some point and she'll gladly help whip stuff up for you when she has time. Also she has asked me to point out that the screens / dividers around the birthday cake near the foyer area are also new craftables that she can whip up!

UPDATE: Due to all the issues that were occurring with AA respecs, item attuning etc since GU61 and Raid Leader Arikk being under the weather, it was decided best to postpone last Friday's outing to Kraytoc's Fortress. HOWEVER, this event is now scheduled for this upcoming Friday! BE SURE to sign up for it here.

There should be no Rime nor reason *groans* why Stormsurge shouldn't start hitting up the Destiny of Velious x4 raid content, and so this coming Friday evening (26th August), good weather permitting and assuming routers are behaving and that GU61 didn't break everything in sight, then our valiant band of Raiders (plus that Thor bloke) will be invading Kraytoc's Fortress of Rime!

Kraytoc's Fortress of Rime will be the first official guild outing along to Destiny of Velious x4 raid content now that many of our members are acquiring some nice gear and critical mitigation. We have no doubt that come what may this won't be a walk in the park first time round, we're expecting many deaths along the way (and I'm not talking mobs!). But its time we explored and see how far off the mark our raid team may or may not be for Velious x4 raid content.

There are things you can do to prepare in the next few days to give us all the best chance possible of trying to make some progress in the zone - and even if we don't get many or indeed any names down on our first run, we may well grab a good few trash mobs that might drop a few items along the way. Firstly, as ever with Velious content - its all about the Crit Mit! Keep working on that, and see if there are any gear upgrades you can acquire before raid time that will help bump your Crit Mit some - including adornments. Don't forget if you have a bunch of Mark of Manaars saved up as we know many of you will, you can head to Odus and purchase yellow adornments each with 2.5% crit mit on to further boost your Crit Mit as a good stop gap until your Crit Mit is boosted through better gear. Be sure to stock up on potions, deity buffs, and anything and everything you can to help give yourself and the guild a little bit of extra oomph that might be required to make some progress! Additionally, have a read up on the zone and its mobs and any potential strategies on EQ2 Wiki if you get the chance, though don't forget our Raid Leader, Arikk, will of course be calling the strategies, but it won't hurt to be prepared.

At the time of writing this news article there are still quite a few spots available, but to give yourself the best possible chance of coming along to this event we urge you to claim your characters on the Manage Characters page and then be sure to sign up for this raid here. I know myself and many others included are looking forward to getting our teeth stuck into the DoV x4 content, though, it may be a case of slow progress in these zones for now - but you never know, we might make some progress and acquire a few drops! Let's give it our very best shot - hope to see you all there!

Ever looked at those stylish personalised EQ2 themed avatars and signatures some folk on our site have and think to yourself 'Yeuck!! I don't want one of those!'? If so, then you need read no further!

If however, you are in the camp that says 'meh they're alright, I suppose I wouldn't mind one' then you might like to visit our brand new Request an Avatar / Signature page, where each week one unlucky person will get the chance to have their very own avatar and signature set designed and setup for use on our site (and indeed other intermaweb forums) by that Thor guy - you know the one with the silly pointed hat, red eyes, ornate moustache, and one of Norrath's most pungent odours.

Our new Request an Avatar / Signature page enables guild members of Senior status or above to sign up and join the queue for their very own EQ2 Avatar / Sig(nature) as Thor will try and tackle 1 request per week or more (time permitting). Even if you don't want one of Thor's designs, there are some useful tips and information on this page to enable you to use your own avatars / signatures on the site should you so wish.

You may also like to know folk without a signature / avatar (either by Thor or of their own creation) may be subject to negative karma!!! And those who do have one setup (be it one I've done or otherwise) may be subject to some positive karma! Now I know that has you interested!

Are you game for a LL.AA.FF? If so you might like to know that Liftik's legendary competition 'Liftik's Legendary / Advantageous Achievements / Fortuitously Fabled Contest' is back - and this time with a vengeance!

This brilliant competition from our Snickers-loving Halfling, involves him picking out a secret letter that only he is aware of before the competition starts. Whenever someone loots an item of legendary loot, or achieves an Advantageous Achievement or loots a Fortuitously Fabled item in game, Liftik will check the first letter of that looted item or achievement to see if it matches the secret letter he has already pre-determined. When they match, the winner will receive a treasured STAT specific adornment (i.e. Lesser adornment for stats - STR/AGI/WIS/INT) to apply to their gear. When someone has won, a new letter is picked and the contest continues.

But that's just part 1 of this great 3 part competition! Part 2 involves rearranging all the letters found in part 1 to form a secret word that Liftik pre-determined secretly before the contest began. Whoever manages to re-arrange the letters first and find the correct word wins themselves a legendary adornment for their gear (i.e. Greater adornment)! Once this part is complete, the contest returns to part 1 for any additional words pre-determined in the contest.

When all the words are spelled out, part 3 begins! Part 3 involves determining what all the words found in parts 1 & 2 mean. They are always Stormsurge related (unless otherwise stated), and could relate to a favourite raid zone, a specific guild member, or something in the guild hall - anything Stormsurge related! It's your job to figure out what! And if you do - you'll be the VERY LUCKY WINNER of a fabled adornment for your gear (i.e. Superior adornment) - often worth in excess of 50 platinum coin!

As ever with any competition there are rules, and we urge you to read up and follow the contest (which is already underway - and our apologies for being late to report on it - its been a busy couple of weeks!), there are 12 winners so far at the time of publication, but THERE IS STILL TIME to discover more letters, more words and the final clue from the words that are discovered!
