I do not normally do this, and I am normally 100% against openly asking for more people to post feedback on a particular subject but this one hits kinda close to home for me.
Without diving into the entire topic let me just put the bottom line out there right now; With this new partnership there will be changes to the way people access SOE's services. If you are Euro based and playing on a US based server you will still be able to play on said server, you just cannot make any new chars and any NEW accounts from this point on in Euro areas will be forced to use ProSieBenSat.1's service.
If you are US based and playing on a Euro server, you're screwed. Literally. US based players will NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ACCESS EURO SERVERS.

I cannot find any logic behind it at all. I just cant, I've tried. They are going to get hit with lost revenue pretty severely if this happens

The ONLY sense it makes is in a short term financial gain. They "sell" off a chunk of their business for a chunk of capital. From this, my guess would be one of two things:
1) Sony was look for a fast infusion of cash into the business either to finance launches, cover losses or something else along those lines or
2) The brain trust that thought this up is really just going to short term profits, make their fat bonuses on those profits and then take their money and run. After all, Wall Street got away with it....

I am at a loss as to why they would want to do this. I have read everything, and even most of the 103 pages on the forums. This makes zero sense to me, zero.
I see the future of EQ2, its not a good one.

Soo, in a suprise move yesterday, Sony announces that they have appointed an EQ2 "community relations manager". Wow, there is NO amount of money they could pay me right now for THAT job. I wonder if, with the promotion, they also got a t-shirt with a huge bulls-eye on the back.
I have this mental picture of the conversation at Sony:
Sony Suits: Well, that went rather well don't you think? Last we checked, all the horses were fat and happy.
Sony Marketing: Uhh, guys? We aren't really sure how to tell you this but there's no horses in the barn. 
Sony Suits: We really need to close those barn doors NOW!!!!!
Sony Marketing: Uhh, guys? The horses have already escaped.
Sony Suits: Well, dammit, close the doors anyway!
